This exclusive Three Countries Safari to Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe is an authentic African experience with all the trimmings – action, adventure and luxury!

    • Explore Botswana’s Okavango Delta in an open 4×4 safari vehicle or by mokoro (a traditional canoe) and experience all that the African bush has to offer.
    • Track rhinos on foot from your superb lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia.
    • Sit by the elephant pool at your luxury camp in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe and watch the elephants and other wildlife come to you.
    • And you’ll get to see the magnificent Victoria Falls from both the Zambia and the Zimbabwe sides – two very different views.

A few days at our superb lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River at Victoria Falls is the perfect way to end your safari. It’s located away from the bustle of town but close enough to visit the Falls (a guided tour is included) or do some last-minute shopping. Each spacious room has a private plunge pool and deck overlooking the river, and the meals, staff and boat trips on the river are exceptional. It’s no wonder my guests rave about this stunning lodge and don’t want to leave!

Enjoy game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles – perfect for wildlife viewing and photography, learn about the ‘small 5’ on walks with our very experienced guides, canoe through the waterways watching as elephants cross your path, and relax after dinner with a nightcap around the campfire  – this journey has it all.

On your Three Countries Safari you’ll stay in private wildlife concessions where you’ll have the opportunity to participate in night game drives and guided walks – activities not normally allowed within National Parks. You’ll never have to share wildlife encounters with hordes of other vehicles – in fact, there probably won’t be another vehicle for miles! A portion of your safari payment supports local communities and conservation projects, and you’ll have many opportunities to see how vital this support is during your safari.

These luxurious tented camps, which are all located in private concessions away from the crowds, have been hand-picked by African Encounters director Karen Platzer. The spacious luxury tents all have en-suite bathrooms and very comfortable beds – this really is ‘camping in style’. Karen will personally escort this safari and she looks forward to sharing some of her favourite places with you.*

This outstanding safari is limited to just 6 guests. Don’t miss your adventure of a lifetime – book your place now!

1 November – Botswana: Your Three Countries safari begins with your independent arrival at Maun Airport, Botswana. Transfer to your accommodation where you will meet your guide and fellow travellers and relax before your adventure starts tomorrow.

2 – 4 November – Botswana: This morning you will fly to your first camp in the spectacular Okavango Delta where you’ll spend 3 nights. The camp is in the Khwai area, and offers the same wildlife experience as the Reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives. The 6 elegant tents are perched on wooden decking overlooking the tranquil waters of the lagoon. Besides the day-time drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe – you’ll be able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive.

5 & 6 November – Zambia: Fly to Kasane and road transfer across the border into Zambia to your beautiful lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. The lodge has 10 rooms, each with its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool.

Activities here include a visit to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls UNESCO World Heritage site, game drives in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, cultural village visits, fishing and a sunset river cruise (on our own private boat). Here you will experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure tracking rhinos on foot. The animals are under 24-hour protection by the rangers who will ensure you will be able to get close to the animals while maintaining the utmost respect for one of Africa’s most iconic species.

8 – 10 November – Zimbabwe: Road transfer across the border to Victoria Falls where you will join your flight to Hwange National Park. Zimbabwe’s biggest reserve is home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the largest surviving groups on the continent.

Your home for the next 3 nights has seven elegantly furnished tents with gauze sliding doors, a wood-burner fireplace for cold winter nights, and an overhead fan for hot summer days. Each tent has en suite bathroom facilities including flush toilets, an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a copper slipper-style bathtub. The main deck includes a lounge and dining area, as well as a small splash pool for guests overlooking the “Elephant Pool” and a natural waterhole where herds of game congregate to drink. Activities include guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you, game drives and night drives.

11 – 13 November – Zimbabwe: After breakfast fly back to Victoria Falls International Airport and transfer to your stunning lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River, a 10-minute drive from Victoria Falls town. During your 3 days here you’ll enjoy a guided visit to the spectacular Victoria Falls, boat trips on the mighty Zambezi River, game drives in Zambezi National Park, and have time for some last-minute shopping in the many craft markets in town.

14 November: Your wonderful safari ends with a transfer to Victoria Falls International Airport to connect with your flight home.

My second safari with Karen, another very special experience. Small group, small camps, wonderful meals and nothing too much trouble. Karen’s itineraries are well researched and paced with 2 to 4 nights in each camp. Time to feel at home! Such professional and knowledgeable guides in each camp – I learned so much about the countries, their people, flora and fauna and of course the animals.
We had some wonderful close encounters with the animals especially the elephants. The ever amazing birdlife was either posing for or challenging the photographers.
This was meant to be my “grande finale” after 3 trips to Africa but maybe not, these safaris are addictive. Thankyou Karen.
