This morning you’ll join your flight into the Okavango Delta where you’ll spend 3 nights in a stunning new eco-camp. The camp is in the Khwai area, adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve. It offers the same wildlife experience as the Game Reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives. The 7 elegant tents are perched on wooden decking along the banks of the Khwai River. Witness the incredible wildlife of Moremi Game Reserve, the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta. Imagine spotting lions, leopards, elephants, and giraffes roaming free in their natural habitat, and seeing nocturnal wildlife on a night game drive.
Fly to Kasane (Botswana) and road transfer across the border to Livingstone in Zambia. Your beautiful lodge is on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. The lodge has 10 rooms, each with its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a private plunge pool overlooking the river.
Activities here include a visit to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, game drives in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, cultural village visits, fishing, and a sunset river cruise on our private boat. Here you will experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure tracking rhinos on foot. The rhinos are under 24-hour protection by the rangers who will ensure you will be able to get close to the animals while maintaining the utmost respect for one of Africa’s most iconic species.
Road transfer across the border to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe where you will join your flight to Mana Pools National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Zambezi River. The name ‘Mana Pools’ (meaning ‘Four Pools’) originates from the park’s four permanent watering holes, which are a top attraction for wildlife. As you relax in the comfort of your luxury tented suite or explore this mighty destination on foot, experience the wild intertwining with timeless luxury.
Your very comfortable home for the next 3 nights is built in the style of the vintage safari camps of a bygone era. The camp has 6 luxury tents on raised decking to take advantage of the views over the savannah. All tents have en-suite bathrooms and charging facilities, and the main area has a lounge and dining area overlooking the Zambezi River. Herds of elephants come to drink at the river every day, providing up-close encounters with these magnificent animals. Activities include guided walks led by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you, game drives, canoeing and fishing.
Fly to Harare International Airport to join your flight home.
Fly back to Victoria Falls and visit the spectacular Falls from the Zimbabwe side. The biggest part of Victoria Falls is in Zimbabwe and the view is quite different to the Zambian side. Depending on the time of year the Falls in Zimbabwe will have much more water than the Zambian side. Enjoy a few relaxing days in this bustling small town, maybe take a helicopter flight over the Falls (highly recommended!), or do some last minute shopping. Ask about our preferred hotels.
International airfares are not included. We are happy to recommend a travel agent to book your flights.
Qantas and South African Airways offer the best connections via Johannesburg to Botswana from New Zealand and Australia.
There are no mandatory vaccinations, however malaria prophylaxis (tablets) is strongly recommended.
We are happy to arrange accommodation before or after your safari.
Most of our guests are from New Zealand and Australia. They are typically mature, well travelled people who are looking to venture off the main tourist route to explore some of Africa’s less well-known destinations – but they also appreciate quality accommodation back at base after an exciting day of game drives and guided walks! They are flexible and easy going, and they are keen to give back by supporting local conservation and community projects during their safari. A sense of humour is always welcome!
This has been our fifth trip to Africa with Karen. As always the trip has exceeded our expectations with brilliant organisation, fabulous accommodation and wondrous close encounters with the animals, especially elephants! Zimbabwe & Zambia safari.
