Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world, and it is a magnificent sight at any time of year – the perfect end to your safari!

The thunderous roar of the Falls can be heard for miles around, giving rise to its traditional name, Mosi-oa-Tunya or ‘The Smoke That Thunders’. Water flow on the Zimbabwean side is permanent but the volume changes with the seasons. if you’re visiting between February and June, when the water flow in the Zambezi River is at its peak, expect to get very wet from the spray, while during low water levels in October/November you’ll have panoramic views with less water and no spray.

Our exquisite lodge lies 7kms upstream from the Falls, at the original crossing point where supplies were ferried and cattle were swum across to the opposite bank of the mighty Zambezi River. This luxury lodge is a favourite with our guests and requests to postpone the flight home to stay longer here have been heard!

Boat trips on the river, game drives in Zambezi National Park, and a guided visit to the Falls are included during your stay.

Old Drift Lodge was the accommodation highlight of my trip, and remains up to this day, where I go to dream in my “happy place”! Everything was perfect. The rooms were beautifully presented, and every detail for your comfort attended to. The outdoor bath was gorgeous, along with the private plunge pool to cool off. The family of warthogs were great entertainment along with the stunning sunset cruises on the Upper Zambezi River. The food and wine were amazing and plentiful. The staff, including the beautician, were lovely people very attentive and dedicated to ensuring I will never forget the Old Drift Lodge. I so hope to return!

From the warm welcome on arrival to the cheery goodbyes, our time at Old Drift Lodge was incredible. Drifting quietly on the river watching hippos and a multitude of birds, extraordinary food and service, and exceptional glamping made this a perfect end to our trip. Of course, the visit to the famous Falls was spectacular too.

I was fortunate to enjoy one of Karens safaris to Botswana and Zimbabwe.
We had beautiful accommodation throughout the trip, then we arrived at The Old Drift Lodge.
Wow!
What a way to finish a magical ten days, in this luxurious Lodge, right on the Zambezi River.
The Old Drift Lodge is stunning throughout, the staff could not do enough for you, and the food was exceptional.
The rooms were beautifully appointed, indoor and outdoor showers, plus an outdoor bath and your own private plunge pool. This was just such a treat, especially after a morning of game drives or walking around Victoria Falls.
I would highly recommend this Lodge to anyone looking for a memorable finish to one of Karens fabulous safaris.
