Zanzibar

The Spice Island in the Indian Ocean
  • Daily departures
  • Zanzibar

Located off the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar consists of three main islands, Unguja, Pemba and Mafia Islands. It is home to a rich and diverse culture influenced over time by its many settlers including the Sumerians, Egyptians, Indians, Chinese, Persians, Portuguese, Dutch and British.

Known as the ‘Spice Island’, Zanzibar was once the world’s leading clove producer, and still maintains a strong export market in spices. Today tourism is a growing sector as more people visit the fantastic scenery and fusion of cultures available on these islands. It also offers some of the best diving experiences in East Africa and the historic Stone Town old city which has remained virtually untouched for the last 200 years. A guided walk through the narrow streets of Stone Town, a World Heritage site, is included during your stay on the island.

Your beachfront resort & spa is on the peaceful south-east coast of the island. Optional activities include snorkelling, diving and boat trips, a tour of the island’s spice plantations and a guided bush walk in the Jozani National Park to see endangered Red Colobus monkeys which are endemic to Zanzibar. The resort’s spa offers massages and beauty treatments.

This beautiful island is the perfect end to your African adventure and can be added to any of our Tanzania or Kenya safaris.

First time to Zanzibar, loved Stone Town and wandering around the alleyways and markets. The beach hotel was a great ending to the holiday, three days to relax at the coast. Thanks Karen.
