Explore the Wild Heart of Africa on a Zambia Safari
Zambia is one of Africa’s last true wildernesses – untouched, uncrowded, and utterly authentic. If it’s not on your bucket list, it should be! Over the years, I’ve enjoyed some incredible Zambia safaris with my small groups, and I can’t wait to go back again in 2026!
With 30% of the country protected as game reserve, this is one of the last places in Africa where you can immerse yourself in vast, pristine wilderness. Visitor numbers are refreshingly low, meaning you often have the landscape – and the wildlife – all to yourself. It’s a rare privilege in today’s world, and one that makes a Zambia safari truly special.
Early bookings are essential though – our favourite small camps fill quickly as the word spreads about this beautiful country with its friendly people and exceptional wildlife. It’s one of the best places in all of Africa to see leopards and rare African wild dogs. The magnificent elephants that stroll through our camp in the Lower Zambezi every day are worth the trip alone!
Step into the Birthplace of the Walking Safari

Zambia created the walking safari, and it still does it best. Follow in the footsteps of the legendary conservationist Norman Carr when you head out on foot with your expert guide. You’ll slow down and smell the wild sage crushed underfoot, feel the sun warm your shoulders, and listen to birdsong echoing through the trees. Your guide will introduce you to traditional medicinal plants and edible roots, and point out the “Small Five” – nature’s small wonders that most safari-goers miss entirely. Every walk gives you a richer, more connected view of the bush.
Canoeing Safaris: Up Close, Without the Crowds

For a completely different perspective, hop into a canoe and glide silently down one of Zambia’s beautiful rivers. Drift past elephants cooling off in the shallows, impalas grazing at the water’s edge, and waterbuck stepping carefully along the banks. With no noisy engine to disturb the peace, you’ll enjoy one of Africa’s most tranquil and intimate game viewing experiences. The birdlife is incredible too – keep your binoculars close for sightings of colourful kingfishers, African fish eagles and Goliath herons among the reeds.
Fishing Adventures on Zambia’s Mighty Rivers

Zambia’s rivers aren’t just for game viewing – they’re also a paradise for keen anglers. Cast your line in search of the legendary tigerfish, known for its fight and ferocity. Even if you don’t land a monster, the setting makes every moment worthwhile. Picture this: you’re out on the water, the sun warm on your back, and your guide pulls into the bank to watch a herd of elephants crossing the river just ahead. It’s adventure and serenity all rolled into one.
Feel the Warmth of Zambia’s People

Zambia’s wildlife might bring you here, but its people will steal your heart. From the first warm greeting at camp to the insightful stories shared by your guides, you’ll feel welcomed everywhere you go. Guides love showing off their country, culture and wildlife, and local artisans proudly invite you into their workshops to share their crafts. Every encounter feels genuine and leaves you with a deeper appreciation for this beautiful part of Africa.
